A two-day training program organized by the İstanbul Technical University (İTÜ) Disaster Management Institute for a delegation of 40 academics and public officials from Uzbekistan offered critical information under the title: "Training and Practical Internship Program on Seismic Safety and Disaster Preparedness in Uzbekistan."
The comprehensive program, hosted by the İTÜ Disaster Management Institute, aimed to enhance the country's resilience against earthquakes and other natural disasters.

Main Topics and Scope of the Training
In the initial part of the training, participants gained fundamental scientific knowledge in areas such as Earthquake Seismology and Active Tectonics and Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering. This was followed by an examination of the Fundamentals of Structural Dynamics, which is vital for understanding the behavior of structures during an earthquake.
Information was presented on Techniques for the Improvement of Construction and Demolition Waste Based on Multi-Scale and Multi-Functional Units to reduce the environmental impact of the construction sector.
Broadening the scope of disasters, the program covered Industrial Risk Assessment and the Interaction of Natural Disasters. Key subjects fundamental to engineering philosophy, such as the Fundamental Principles of Earthquake-Resistant Design Philosophy, and those essential for structural testing, Experimental Methods in Earthquake Engineering, were detailed.
The final section focused on societal and infrastructural resilience. Participants learned strategies for protecting critical infrastructure through Early Warning and Increasing Critical Infrastructure Resilience. Additionally, emphasis was placed on Strategies for Building Resilient Communities to accelerate post-disaster recovery. The program concluded with the timely topic of Risk Assessment in Hydrometeorological Disasters: Artificial Intelligence Applications.

Experience Sharing and Achievement
The training served not only as a platform for knowledge transfer but also for the reciprocal sharing of best practices and experiences in disaster preparedness between the two countries.
The successful completion of the program reinforced Uzbekistan's commitment to becoming a more disaster-resilient country. This international contribution by the İTÜ Disaster Management Institute also sets an example for regional cooperation and knowledge transfer.
