As part of the 2025 In-Service Training Seminar Series organized by the Earthquake Engineering Department, two seminars were successfully held. to enhance professional knowledge and share cutting-edge developments in earthquake engineering and construction technologies.
The first seminar, titled “Post-Tensioned and Precast Japanese Construction Technologies in Residential Buildings and Examples from Turkey,” was delivered by Civil Engineer Birol Doyranlı on April 10, 2025, at the Disaster Management Institute’s Remzi Ülker Hall. Drawing on his extensive experience, Mr. Doyranlı provided an in-depth overview of post-tensioned and precast construction techniques, which have become increasingly prevalent in modern residential construction. The seminar highlighted the practical applicability of these innovative methods and showcased notable examples of their implementation within Turkey, providing valuable insights for industry professionals and academics alike.

The second seminar, held on May 13, 2025, was titled “Investigation Methods for Existing Buildings Assessment” and featured Dr. Filippo Casarin, a distinguished faculty member at the University of Padova. Conducted online to accommodate a wide audience, Dr. Casarin’s presentation focused on advanced methodologies for assessing the structural integrity of existing buildings, particularly cultural heritage, historic, and monumental structures. His discussion covered state-of-the-art techniques in structural health monitoring, in-situ diagnostic methods, and sophisticated structural modeling approaches. The seminar attracted numerous participants eager to learn from Dr. Casarin’s extensive expertise and research contributions.
