The annual "EERI Seismic Design Competition," organized by the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) in the USA, gathers students from various institutions to showcase their skills in seismic design.

The ITU Seismic Team, under the academic guidance of Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Tuna Değer, won the "Most Improved Team" award at the 2024 competition. The project involved the seismic design of a building in Seattle, WA, including designing, testing, and predicting to ensure the resilience of the structure during shaking table testing.
