We are excited to share that our institute member Assoc. Prof. Abdullah Can Zülfikar and his PhD student, Oğuzhan Çetindemir, have published a paper titled "Numerical Validation of Fully Coupled Nonlinear Seismic Soil–Pile–Structure Interaction" in the journal Buildings by MDPI.

This research addresses critical numerical modeling issues in soil–structure interaction (SSI) that have not been sufficiently investigated. It focuses on validating a finite element model of seismic soil–pile–structure interaction (SPSI) by comparing numerical model results with experimental data and existing numerical simulations. The study utilizes newly developed contact elements in OpenSees and shows a strong correlation with prior experimental and numerical findings. It is believed that the findings will enhance the understanding of modeling SPSI problems and provide detailed validation processes to assist researchers.
