Our Faculty Members Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Tuna Deger, Assoc. Prof. Gulsen Taskin Kaya, Asst. Prof. Fatih Sutcu and our PhD student Siamak Tahaei Yaghoubi have developed a machine-learning based model for the estimation of the equivalent damping ratio of reinforced concrete shear walls. Their study named “Machine learning-based predictive models for equivalent damping ratio of RC shear walls” has been published in Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering journal.
The proposed predictive model enables the comparison of the damping capacity of shear walls, and it is believed that the results of this study will contribute to energy-based design or performance evaluation procedures in terms of predicting the energy capacity of shear walls.
