The research project titled "Key Technologies for Rapid Damage Assessment and Efficient Repair and Reinforcement of Buildings in Earthquake-Prone Areas" is being executed by Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Tuna Değer (ITU, Turkey) and De-Cheng Feng (Southeast University, China).
This project aims to develop innovative technologies for the rapid damage assessment and efficient reinforcement of buildings in regions affected by strong earthquakes. With a total budget of 2,038,998 TL.
The Turkey Team comprises Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Tuna Değer (PI) and Asst. Prof. Fatih Sütcü (Researcher) from our Faculty.
The research focuses on four main areas:
- Damage Assessment: Developing a machine learning-based model using the damaged building database obtained from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change.
- Retrofitting Technology: Creating an efficient precast external sub-structure system and conducting experimental studies.
- Simulation Method: Developing high-fidelity numerical models and performance evaluation indices for the retrofitted system.
- Optimization Design: Establishing a performance-based design approach and optimization strategy for the retrofitted system.
